      This page lists every Wisconsin-based Bluegrass Band that I have been able to find mentioned in various books, magazines, festival guides and on-line sources, or seen in person at many concerts and festivals. It also lists a few bands from other states with at least one regular member who lives in Wisconsin. The only other exception to this rule is that all bands that are, or were,listed by SWBMAI [Archive] are included here, even if they have no Wisconsin members. Please write if you know about any bands not listed, or if you have additional information about a listed band, such as, its "Active" dates (i.e. when it was formed and/or disbanded), former band members, the city it is or was based in, recordings not listed on the Wisconsin Discographies page, etc. A cross-reference list of the band membership history of (and the instruments played by) all individuals listed here, can be found on the Wisconsin Bluegrass Band Members page. The ultimate goal of this page is to document every Wisconsin-based Bluegrass Band that ever existed.

Bands also have the following notation added to their listing:
      [Local] = plays only at local events (the default, unless I know of festivals/concerts done outside of their local area)
      [Wisconsin] = plays at festivals/concerts throughout Wisconsin
      [Regional] = plays at festivals/concerts in the Mid-West (IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, ND, SD, WI)
           Bluegrass Organizations in the Mid-West
      [National] = also plays at festivals/concerts outside the Mid-West
