Cachet Display Catalog: FDC Cachetmakers Index
This page displays Poster Stamps (aka Cinderellas or labels) depicting cartoons about U.S. cities with unusual names, created between 11-26-1938 and 4-05-1940 by John Coulthard of Modesto, CA, and the covers that were serviced in each city with these stamps. These stamps were sold in imperforate blocks of four in the Western Stamp Collector newspaper in 1938-1940. It is unknown which covers, if any, were serviced by Coulthard. None of the covers displayed here are addressed to him. Other reported covers have been canceled as late as 1951.
For a display of his First Day Cover (FDC) cachets, see:
Cachetmaker: John Coulthard @. For a display of many cartoons and ads he drew from the 1930's through 1961, see my bibliography page documenting the stamp and cover sales catalog,
"Collector's Handbook" by Elmer R. Long @. And, for a number of special Naval Event cachets he created, see the page,
Naval Cover Museum: Cachet Maker John Coulthard. The
Naval Cover Museum (NCM) is owned and maintained by the
Universal Ship Cancellation Society (USCS), Greg Ciesielski, NCM Curator.

Wanted: a 300 bpi / 600 pixel wide (or greater) .jpg scan of any unlisted cachet
(ALSO any cachet marked ***)
Email it to: henkle@pobox.com
Subject for this page: Doug Henkle unlisted John Coulthard Poster Stamp covers
(an email with any other subject or with any other graphical format will be ignored IF it has an attachment)
Note that all covers I have seen with these poster stamps attached were serviced between late 1938 and early 1940, with a single exception of 1935
(#7). Characters depicted at that time may not be acceptable in the 2020s (aka "politically correct"), eighty-five years after these cartoons were drawn.
Eight of the stamps I have not seen on cover.
